June vs July: the funnel, measured

Volume nearly doubled (157 → 302 calls) with no marketing — clients learn fast that the phone always answers. The conversion rate held as volume grew: 31% of June's real conversations booked, 40% of July's. The 106 booked calls produced 160 appointment rows — callers book for sisters, friends, and whole parties — of which 150 were kept (94%), 10 cancelled.

Three patterns worth stealing, whatever receptionist you use:

  • The morning window is gold. 10 AM–1 PM held 134 conversations and 57 bookings — a 43% close rate. Miss a morning call and you are missing the callers most ready to book.
  • Before-open callers are the most decisive of all. All three 8 AM conversations booked. After hours overall: 15 conversations, 6 bookings — appointments that simply would not exist with a phone that opens at 9.
  • The 9 AM hour is questions, not bookings (20 conversations, 2 bookings) — callers checking hours and prices at open. Fine: answering those is what makes the 10 AM booking wave show up.

Methodology (read this before quoting us)

  • Source: every inbound call at one beta nail salon, May 31 – Aug 1, 2026 (Pacific time). One salon, no exclusions.
  • Spam split: calls under 30 seconds (170) are counted as spam/hangups and excluded from conversion math — disclosed, not hidden.
  • Booking verification is strict: a call counts as booked only when a bookings-table row carries its call ID. Softer phone+time matching would add ~35 booked calls; we report the strict number.
  • Not self-graded: the AI's own "I booked this" assessment runs ~30% optimistic — which is exactly why we measure from the database instead.

Frequently asked questions

How were bookings verified?
Strictly: a call only counts as booked if a booking row in the salon's database carries that exact call's ID. Softer matching (same phone number booking within a time window) would add roughly 35 more booked calls, but this report uses only the strict number.
What counts as a real conversation?
Any call lasting 30 seconds or more. Calls under 30 seconds were overwhelmingly robocalls and instant hang-ups, so they are reported separately as spam rather than counted against conversion.
Is this data cherry-picked from multiple salons?
No — it is every call from launch (May 31, 2026) through August 1, 2026 at our first beta salon, a working nail salon on the US West Coast. One salon, no exclusions except the spam split, which is disclosed.
